- Depending on the seriousness of the charges, penalties for theft range from probation or 60 days in jail to 30 years in prison, depending on the amount stolen and prior convictions for theft.
Burglary
- Also known as "breaking and entering" into a home or other building, or a motor vehicle.
- Depending on whether the charges include assault, battery, or being armed with a deadly weapon, penalties for burglary can range from five years to life in prison.
Robbery
- Taking money or property from another person by force, violence, or placing the victim in fear.
- Robbery is always a felony, and carries up to 15 years in prison, and up to life in prison if committed with a deadly weapon.
