Misdemeanor vs. Felony
A misdemeanor is less serious than a felony and more serious than an "infraction" like a traffic ticket. In Florida, there are two types of misdemeanors. A first degree misdemeanor is punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a $1000.00 fine. A second degree misdemeanor is punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500.00 fine.
